Today in White Sox Baseball (April 6, 2025) — Five straight MLB losses but a clean sweep for the affiliates!
The White Sox continue to spiral and, theoretically, still may match last year’s record start of 2-15. Meanwhile, Birmingham was rained out but the lower three affiliates all brought home series-finale victories.
Detroit Tigers 4, Chicago White Sox 3 Martín Pérez snapped the rotation’s slump by spinning 6 ⅓ innings of four-hit, one-run ball, but the very last batter of the game gave Detroit its first lead all day and wiped Pérez’s win off the docket:
The White Sox drop to 2-7.
Charlotte Knights 9, Norfolk Tides 8 The bad news is that pitching is probably not going to be the hallmark of the 2025 Charlotte Knights. The good? Pitching won’t need to be, because this club has some BATS. Dominic Fletcher indicated his dissatisfaction with being back in the minors with a double and triple day and Edgar Quero slammed his first homer. The difference in the game came in the bottom of the eighth, when pinch-hitter Tristan Gray clocked a two-run triple to cap off a three-run inning and comeback.

More intriguing was Chase Meidroth coming back from a couple of days off playing shortstop (and homering for the third time in seven games) and Colson Montgomery moving over to third base. Charlotte improves to 6-3 and heads to Jacksonville next.
Knoxville Smokies at Birmingham Barons was postponed due to rain. No makeup date was announced. The Barons remain 1-1 on the season and next head to Chattanooga for a six-game set.
Winston-Salem Dash 11, Rome Emperors 3 After a lackluster effort Opening Day, the Dash took the next two vs. Rome, scoring 27 runs in the process. Sam Antonacci homered among his three hits and Alec Makarewicz had the big bat with three hits including a double and homer in the romp. And thank goodness for the 11 runs, because 16 Ks look a lot uglier otherwise. Aldrin Batista had a wild, solid start in his first outing of the season. The 2-1 Dash return to N.C. for their home opener vs. Greensboro on Tuesday.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 7, Hickory Crawdads 5 The CBs came within three innings of getting swept in their season-opening series, but superstar-in-waiting Braden Montgomery cleared the bases with a two-strike, three-run double to turn 5-4 frown upside-down. Mikey Kane tripled and homered to make the comeback possible in the first place. The 1-2 Cannon Ballers now head to Lynchburg to face the Hillcats.
