Today in White Sox Baseball (March 29, 2025) — Knights Bats Needed in Chicago

Angels 1, Chicago White Sox 0
Well, we had one day on and one day off to savor first place and a resurgent offense. That came crashing down, mostly courtesy of Angels hurler José Soriano. Soriano held the White Sox to two hits over seven innings. The game came down to this:

Frankly, couldn’t happen for a better guy — and to a worse one.

The White Sox drop to 1-1 and looked an awful like the hapless hitters of 2024. Andrew Vaughn was 0-for-4 with four ground outs, and, well, maybe Tim Elko is on his way this year.

Here’s your condensed game. The real game was just about this fast.

Charlotte Knights 12, Gwinnett Stripers 4
I mean, Kyle Teel wants to be in the majors.

Teel, heir apparent on the South Side at catcher, or left field, or DH, or, frankly, anywhere he wants to play, is hitting .556 with a 1.933 OPS. Yes, those numbers break the typical MiLB.com box score format, but we here at Sox Populi dug deep to provide the numbers. Teel has homered in both games this season, with eight RBIs … so sure, that’s four RBIs per game — but is also nearly ONE RBI (8) PER AT-BAT (9)!

Some other Knights had tidy games in the win, as Greg Jones Jr. and Tristian Gray joined Teel with multi-hit games and Chase Meidroth, Edgar Quero, Colson Montgomery, Tim Elko, Corey Julks and Zach DeLoach got on base at least twice apiece. Frankly, the only bummer in the game came from a poor start by Nick Nastrini, first up for a spot/emergency start on the South Side if he could just get his act together.
