WWE Smackdown in Italy: Two New Matches Set for WrestleMania 41
CM Punk may finally get his wish to headline WrestleMania this year.
Last night’s Smackdown in Bologna, Italy, ended with a three-way verbal battle involving Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins.
The inevitable brawl led to all three men pointing to the WrestleMania sign.
This bout has the star power to headline the first night of Mania, with Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena as the obvious choice for the main event of Night 2.
Paul Heyman is a key player in this drama. He owes Punk a favor from Survivor Series. Will he pull strings to make this match the main event, or will he try to help Punk win the match?
OWENS vs. ORTON
Randy Orton opened the show, and the Italian fans sang his entire theme song.
Kevin Owens’ apology for piledriving Orton fell on deaf ears, and they will meet at WrestleMania as well.
WOMEN’S ACTION
Liv Morgan defeated Jade Cargill with help from Naomi. This was Cargill’s first pinfall loss in WWE.
Piper Niven used her size advantage to beat Zelina Vega with a splash.
