There’s No Tying in Baseball: Cleveland Guardians 12, Milwaukee Brewers 12

Baseball is great for many reasons, one of which is that there’s always a winner.

Unless it’s spring training, or the 2002 All-Star Game.

The Cleveland Guardians played the Milwaukee Brewers to a rare 12-12 tie, which was allowed since these games don’t really count.

JOSH NAYLOR REPLACEMENT?

While Carlos Santana will replace Josh Naylor at first base, Lane Thomas may be the one who carries the RBI load for the Guardians.

Thomas put Cleveland on the scoreboard with a three-run double in the first inning. Bo Naylor, Jose Ramirez, and Santana all scored.

Will Brennan followed with a single to score Thomas, and the Guardians had a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

A BIG STEP BACKWARD

Slade Cecconi, who came from Arizona in the Josh Naylor deal, couldn’t hold the lead.

He gave up six hits and seven runs in 1 2/3 innings, instantly making him a longshot to make the Guardians starting rotation.

COMEBACK TRAIL

Milwaukee was leading 9-4 when Cleveland started its comeback with a three-run fifth inning.

Brayan Rocchio doubled to score Brennan and Thomas. Steven Kwan followed with an RBI single.

Cleveland outfielder Jorge Burgos blasted a solo homer in the seventh to center cut the lead to 9-8.

TYING IT ALL TOGETHER

Milwaukee increased the lead to 12-8 before the Guardians mounted a ninth-inning rally.

Burgos smashed a two-run homer to start the party. Shortstop Milan Tolentino also went deep.

Finally, first baseman Micah Pries singled to score outfielder Kahlil Watson to finish the wild shootout.

The Guardians will take the field today against the Seattle Mariners in Peoria, Ariz, at 3:05 p.m.
