The Hardy Boyz Are Returning to WWE on NXT

Matt and Jeff Hardy’s 30-year odyssey in the WWE isn’t over yet.

They will defend the TNA tag team championship next week on NXT against Tavion Heights & Myles Borne of the No Quarter Catch Crew.

The brothers from North Carolina started in the mid-‘90s as skinny teenagers who would get beaten on early episodes of Monday Night Raw.

By the end of the decade, they had signed with the company as a pair of young, high-flying heroes.

I was in the building at No Mercy 99 for their groundbreaking tag team ladder match against Edge & Christian.

This match changed the entire wrestling business and led to a wild series of Tables, Ladders & Chairs (TLC) matches that also involved The Dudley Boyz.

The brothers excelled in singles competition, with Matt winning the ECW title and Jeff going all the way to the top as WWE champion.

Now late in their careers, they have the TNA belts. Thanks to the WWE-TNA partnership, the Hardy Boyz are coming home next week in Cincinnati.

RICKY MARCHES IN

Ricky Starks signed his NXT contract and will team up with Je’Von Evans next week against Ethan Page & Wes Lee.

To honor his New Orleans hometown, his WWE name will be Ricky Saints.

TNA X Division Champion Moose made a surprise appearance to open the show. He confronted NXT champion Oba Femi.

Also, Moose will defend his title in Cincinnati next week against hometown boy Lexis King (Brian Pillman Jr.)

TONS of WOMEN’S ACTION

The first two matches and the main event featured NXT’s deep women’s roster.

Karmen Petrovic defeated Kelani Jordan and Jaida Parker in the opener. Fatal Influence attacked Petrovic after the match, with Jordynne Grace, Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia making the save.

That led to a six-woman main event, as Grace pinned Jazmyn Nyz after a Grace Driver.

Sol Ruca teamed with Zaria to defeat The Meta-Girls (Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend).

SAD TEACHER

Andre Chase is still bummed that he can no longer teach at Chase University. He lost to Eddy Thorpe after an Impaler DDT.

Shawn Spears beat Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo with the C4 (running Death Valley Driver).

Spears leads an unnamed faction, but the OTHER unnamed faction that debuted at Vengeance Day trashed the office of General Manager Ava to end the show.
