Cleveland Browns 2025 NFL Free Agency, Tight End
Cleveland is going to spend money on free agency in 2025, despite what national and local media report. Today I’ll start a series of articles on six positions Cleveland will need to address, whether it be as starters or backups, quarterback, offensive tackle, safety, tight end, center and offensive guard. Today, tight ends.
The Browns tight roster right now is David Njoku and a bunch of guys. Last year’s number two was Jordan Akins and he’s a free agent. Those still on the roster are Blake Whiteheart (ERFA), Brenden Batts and Tre McKitty. The 2025 NFL draft is very deep at the tight end position, so drafting one is a real possibility. The Browns have indicated they are going back to the “Stefanski offense,” so there will be three tight ends on the roster and a couple on the practice squad. If Cleveland chooses not to resign Adkins, then a veteran backup has to be signed.
Mo Alie-Cox, Colts. Alie-Cox is 32 years old, played 43.7% snaps and has been in the league seven years. His cap hit for 2024 was $5.9 million. His potential 2025 contact could be one year at $2 million.
Irv Smith, Jr. Texans. Smith is 27 years old, played 7.75 snaps and has been in the league five years. His cap hit for 2024 was $1.125 million. His potential 2025 contract could be one year at $1.170 million.
Tanner Hudson, Bengals. Hudson is 31 years old, played 10.5% snaps and has been in the league five years. His cap hit for 2024 was $1.125 million. His potential 2025 contract could be one year at $1.170 million.
