Cavs Outplay the Nets, 110-97
On Thursday February 20th at 7:30 pm eastern time, the 44-10 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Brooklyn New York to play the 20-34 Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Arena. The Cavaliers and Nets are both coming off the NBA All Star Break. Out for the Cavaliers was Dean Wade, and both Isaac Okoro and Ty Jerome were listed as questionable for the game. Both Jerome and Okoro did play that night. The Nets were without Cam Thomas, Noah Clowney, De’Anthony Melton, and Bojan Bogdanovic for this game. The Cavaliers were looking to continue their momentum for the final 29 games of the 2024 / 2025 NBA regular season.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers picked up where they left off before the All-Star break. The Cavaliers led the Nets after the first quarter 24-19. In the second quarter the Nets outplayed the Cavaliers, and the Nets led the Cavaliers at halftime 50-48. To start the second half the Cavaliers outpaced the Nets and led after three quarters of play 83-77. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers kept up the wining pace to win their 45th game of the season 110-97.
The leading scorer for the Cavaliers was Donovan Mitchell with 26 points in 30 minutes. Both Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen had double-doubles. Mobley earned 18 points and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes of play. Jarrett Allen had a monstrous game with 16 points and 20 rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Up next for the 45-10 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip back home to Cleveland to play the 37-18 New York Knicks on Friday February 21st at 7 pm eastern at the newly named Rocket Arena. The New York Kinks are currently the third playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. This game could be a nice preview for the Eastern Conference Semi Finals Playoffs. A preview that the Cavaliers win.
