Cavs End Losing Streak, Defeat Jazz 120-91
On Sunday March 23rd at 3:30 pm eastern time, the 56-14 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Salt Lake City Utah to play the 16-55 Utah Jazz at the Delta Center. The Cavaliers last game was a 123-112 loss on the road to the Phoenix Suns last Friday. The Jazz last game was a home loss to the Boston Celtics 121-99 last Friday as well. Listed as questionable for the Cavaliers was Jaylon Tyson. He did not play in this game. Out for the Jazz was Lauri Markkanen, John Collins, Elijah Harkless, Taylor Hendricks, and Oscar Tshiebwe. This game was a homecoming for Donovan Mitchell of the Cavaliers while his team was trying to end a four-game losing streak.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers asserted that they were the superior team and led at the end of the quarter 28-22. In the second quarter the game was more evenly matched, and the Jazz briefly took the lead. But by halftime the Cavaliers pulled ahead and led 51-45. The Cavaliers opened the third quarter with a 20-2 run. And they led the Jazz after three quarters of play 88-64. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers maintained their lead to defeat the Utah Jazz 120-91. The Cleveland Cavaliers ended their four-game losing and won their 57th game of the season.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Jarrett Allen with 18 points in 26 minutes. Evan Mobley had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 21 minutes of play. Up next for the 57-14 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to Portland Oregon to play the Portland Trailblazers on Tuesday March 25th, 2025, at 10 pm eastern time at the Moda Center. With eleven games left in the regular season the Cleveland Cavaliers will be tuning up for a playoff run. And that tune up starts Tuesday night in Portland Oregon.
