FOX’s Joel Klatt Mock Draft 1.0 May Excite Jaguar Fans
Last week Fox color analyst and host of the Joel Klatt Show, Joel Klatt, released his “Mock Draft 1.0“. While ESPN and CBS may have already released multiple mocks of the NFL, this is the first one in 2025 for the former Colorado Buffalo quarterback-turned-commentator.
Whether you think it’s Buffalo Bias or not, Klatt stated he thought Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is the best quarterback in what he estimates to be a weak draft class. But the Jags’ AFC South rival Tennessee Titans aren’t getting him — the New York Giants do in a trade from pick three to pick one.
“I think that if you really evaluate him as a quarterback and you take the name off the back of the jersey; if you don’t look at who his head coach is; I think he’s a clear number one quarterback”, said Klatt of Sanders.
Klatt didn’t state the terms of the potential trade between the Titans and the Giants.
For pick two, Penn State Nittany Lions edge rusher Abdul Carter went to the Cleveland Browns to account for the trade request from their star defensive edge rusher Myles Garrett. Klatt, like many draft analysts, has Carter as the top talent in the draft and sees a unique opportunity to both get the best player while also filling a team need.
With the Titans now at picking three after a mocked trade, the Miami Hurricanes All-American quarterback Cam Ward was the selection from Klatt.
“I just don’t think Shedeur Sanders is gonna be willing to play in Tennessee”, said Klatt. With that being the case, there’s a good chance that Ward will face the Jaguars twice next year if this comes to pass.
The New England Patriots at number four were an interesting case in Klatt’s draft. He did not have them picking fellow Colorado alumnus and Heisman Trophy Winner Travis Hunter, but instead LSU Tigers offensive tackle Will Campbell.
“I think it’s tempting to go Travis Hunter, ” said Klatt regarding the Pats. “. . . they can address the corner issue and the wide receiver issue with one player.”
But with the Pats needing to protect their current quarterback in Drake Maye instead of giving up the fifth-most sacks in the NFL, this causes Hunter to drop according to Klatt.
That means the faction of the Duval Devout who became “Travis hunters” while watching their beloved Jacksonville Jaguars struggle in 2024 got their wish at long last according to Klatt. At the fifth pick overall, the Jags are mocked to select the 2024 Heisman Trophy Winner.
“. . .[The Jaguars] were the last in the league in passing defense and takeaways last year — they only had nine takeaways in 17 games. They get the best ball-hawking cornerback in the country in Travis Hunter right here.”
Klatt also referenced that new Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen also compared Hunter to his current rising star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. This is what has Klatt thinking that Colorado’s two-way sensation will also place offense and defense in the NFL.
