2024 Steelers Exit Interviews: Miles Killebrew and Christian Kuntz
The Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 NFL season has come to a close. Because the Steelers are among the 31 teams who did not finish fulfilling their ultimate goal, they are in the process of wrapping up their season and moving forward into 2025.
Since the Steelers conduct exit interviews with all their players, and the fact I have done these articles in the past, we thought we would do them yet again here at Steel Curtain Network. By outlining two players each day, we will be able to look at their season in retrospect as well as looking toward the future. Since Coach Tomlin has previously stated he starts his interviews with rookies and those heading into free agency, we will attempt to do the same to some degree. To start, we will pair the most recent draftees with another player at the same position (if possible) as we work through this process to eventually cover the entire Steelers roster.
Next up are special teams captain Miles Killebrew and long snapper Christian Kuntz.
Miles Killebrew
Position: Safety
Years with the Steelers: 4
Years in the NFL: 9
Contract Status: Signed through 2025
Contract Details: $4,245,000 salary cap hit for 2025. Would cost the Steelers $1,045,000 in dead money if released and save $3.2 million.
Games played in 2024: 17 regular season
Games started in 2024: 0 regular season
Snaps (regular season): 9 (defense), 303 (special teams)
PFF score: 75.5 (DNQ for ranking)
Notable stats: Killebrew had 13 tackles in 2024.
Notes: Although he played the fewest snaps on defense this season since joining the Steelers, Miles Killebrew knows his value is with special teams. The special team’s captain for two years in a row, Killebrew was selected to the Pro Bowl again this year after his All-Pro season in 2023. With plenty of cap space and being a key member in both locker room and on the field, Killebrew should continue in his established role for 2025.
Christian Kuntz
Position: Long Snapper
Years with the Steelers: 4
Years in the NFL: 4
Contract Status: Signed through 2026
Contract Details: $1,278,333 salary cap hit for 2025. Would cost the Steelers $216,667 in dead money if released and save $1,061,666.
Games played in 2024: 17 regular season
Games started in 2024: 0 regular season
Snaps (regular season): 150 (special teams)
PFF score: 54.0 (DNQ for ranking)
Notable stats: Kuntz had 2 special teams tackles in 2024.
Notes: The key to a good long snapper is to not hear their name throughout the game. Christian Kuntz has done a good job of that for the Steelers while also adding quality coverage on punts. Being a local guy as well as involved in the community along with various things the Steelers do for fun, Kuntz is an enjoyable player who gets his job done.
