Stars Fall To Wild In OT To Drop Both On Back To Back

After a third-period collapse that ended their seven-game winning streak on Saturday, the Dallas Stars were back in action the next day.

With a huge opportunity to gain ground in the central division, thanks to a loss from the Winnipeg Jets, Dallas needed to salvage something from their back-to-back.

Salvaging something would be exactly what the Stars did as they dropped a 3-2 contest in overtime to the Minnesota Wild.

After a tripping penalty on Jason Robertson, Marco Rossi scored just 58 seconds in overtime to send Dallas home with just one point.

Robertson got the scoring started at 5:51 of the first period when he put home a between-the-legs feed from Mikko Rantanen.

Following a scoreless second frame, the Wild wasted no time tying the game in the third as Matt Boldy fired home a rebound from his knees.

Just minutes later, Marcus Foligno gave Minnesota the lead after the Stars were in the driver’s seat for the majority of the night.

Thomas Harley tied the game later in the third when a seeing eye shot from the point found its way home in a huge needed goal-scoring effort.

Jake Oettinger made 38 saves for the Stars in his home state, but unfortunately, it was not enough.

“They turned it up in the third,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “We sagged a little bit. Unfortunate back-to-back games.

I think three and four for us. I think they had better legs. We grinded out a point but it’s always disappointing when you have a lead going into the third not to close the deal.”

Dallas will be back in action on Tuesday for a much-win game against the Vancouver Canucks at the American Arlines Center.
