Rockets Down Raptors To Snap Losing Skid

When you’re on a six-game losing streak, you’ll take any kind of win to snap it finally and the Houston Rockets can attest to that.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the Houston Rockets had what may have been the “ugliest” and also one of their biggest wins of the season.

The Rockets took down the Toronto Raptors 94-87 to get into the win column for the first time in February.

Canadian native Dillion Brooks led the Rockets with 19 points 7 rebounds and a +2 rating in a much-needed effort.

Jalen Green struggled for most of the afternoon on his birthday but eventually found his troke to finish 18 points including several key shots down the stretch to close the game out.

Toronto held a four-point lead early in the 4th but the Rockets used a 14-2 run and later a 9-2 run to close it out.

With the Rockets being thin in the lineup, several players played more minutes than usual off the bench and proved to be huge.

Playing 20 minutes, Jeff Green led the way off the bench with 14 points in a “turn back the clock” effort.

Jock Landale was also forced into 24 minutes and scored 11 points while snagging 10 rebounds and a block.

Usual suspect Cam Whitmore finished with 11 points including a huge step back three over two defenders late in the 4th quarter.

Houston’s deep bench comes as they were without Steven Adams and Tari Eason as well as Fred VanVleet and Tari Eason.

Early on in this one, the Rockets got the injury scary from their nightmares as Alperen Sengun left the game with a back injury in the first half and did not return.

With the All-Star Game in just six days, Sengun’s status for his potential All-Star debut is in question.

This comes on the same day that the NBA announced that Adam Silver will be picking two injury replacements for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis who will miss the game due to injury.

As for the Rockets, they will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Phoenix Suns on the front end of a back-to-back to close out the pre-All-Star break portion of their season.
