Ranking The Best Landing Spots For Aaron Rodgers In Free Agency
The New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers are officially split.
The Jets made it official once the new year began that Rodgers would be let go. He is now a free agent and can sign with any team he wants. As we have seen before, this will be a long process for Rodgers.
Free agency began last week but Rodgers has decided to play the long game once again. There are a few teams with interest, not as many as the first go around, but Rodgers has options if he decides to play in 2025.
Below, check out the three best options for Rodgers in free agency.
3. New York Giants
The New York Giants are the clear third option on this list. The only reason the Giants are in the mix is because they are showing Rodgers attention. He lives in New Jersey after his tenure with the Jets. The Giants are not in a position to win right away but John Mara wants the team to find success somehow, someway. It seems like a do-or-die year for head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen. What could go wrong? The team might see Rodgers as a quick fix but that does not work in the NFL. With that being said, the offense has Malik Nabers on the outside and at least Rodgers would have a No. 1 wide receiver to work with.
2. Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings used a first-round pick on J.J. McCarthy last season. If he is healthy, it seems as though he will be the top option this season coming off a meniscus injury. Rodgers is a name that has been floated around because of the unknown of the second-year QB who that has not taken a snap in the NFL. The Vikings won 14 games and made the postseason in 2024. The bad taste was left after being run out by the Detroit Lions in Week 18 and the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round. Rodgers could be a short bridge to McCarthy as the youngster sits for one more year.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
Rodgers has spoken highly of head coach Mike Tomlin in the past. The Pittsburgh Steelers went out and acquired D.K. Metcalf in a trade and quickly signed him to a five-year extension. The Steelers are going for it. Now, they just need the quarterback to complete the puzzle. Rodgers seems like an obvious choice but why has it not happened yet? This seems like a match made in heaven, which brings some pause when you think how it has not happened but the Steelers remain the best choice for Rodgers this offseason.
