Ranking Head Coach Hires Around The NFL Offseason

It might be Super Bowl week but many teams have jump started their offseason by adding a new head coach.

This was a busy cycle with many teams looking for their next leader. All but one team have keyed in on a head coach. That is the New Orleans Saints and it seems as though they are waiting for Kellen Moore to become available.

Below, take a look at the head-coaching hire power rankings from this offseason.

1. Mike Vrabel, New England Patriots

Mike Vrabel returning to New England was the slam dunk of the offseason. The former linebacker has experience leading a success team in Tennessee, making him one of the most-sought after coaches in the cycle. It was written in the stars for Vrabel to return to Foxborough to join Drake Maye and build a successful future.

2. Pete Carroll, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders made the surprise hire of the offseason bringing in Pete Carroll. This is not a long-term arrangement but for a team like the Raiders, it makes sense to being stability. Carroll is a Super Bowl winning coach that could take the Raiders and settle it all down after many failed regimes. That is the ultimate goal of bringing in Carroll.

3. Ben Johnson, Chicago Bears

Ben Johnson waited for his chance to be a head coach and landed on the Bears. Should he have went to Washington to work with Jayden Daniels? That is up for interpretation but Johnson now has his own young quarterbacks in Caleb Williams. He was the hottest coaching candidate for two years now and the Bears seem to have their next leader for years to come.

4. Kellen Moore, New Orleans Saints***

The asterisk is because Moore has not been hired yet but multiple reports claim that this cold surface quickly after the Super Bowl. The Saints would take on the trend of the NFL hiring the next young, offensive-minded head coach. Moore has worked his way up the ranks and did wonders for the Eagles this year.

5. Aaron Glenn, New York Jets

The people of New York are trying to convince themselves that this was the right move. Glenn is a former Jet who seemed to win the press conference. In the grand scheme of things, neither of those aspects matter when it comes to winning games. A head coach cannot win in the offseason. Glenn has a lot of work to do to bring the Jets back. Glenn fits into a trend of a first-time, defensive-minded head coach in New York. Good luck, Jets.

6. Liam Coen, Jacksonville Jaguars

Coen is from the Sean McVay coaching tree and is credited for helping resurrect the career of Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay. Now, he goes to Jacksonville to work with Trevor Lawrence. At first glance, this seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

7. Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones strikes again. After letting go of a well-versed, experienced head coach in Mike McCarthy, Jones elevates an option that no other team was discussing. There is no way this can go bad, right?
