NFL Offseason Wish Lists: AFC East
The 2024 NFL Season is over, and the 2025 Offseason is in full swing! It’s an exciting time for fans and franchises alike as new hope dawns with the records reset for all 32 squads. With that in mind, I want to do a series looking at all 32 teams “Offseason Wish Lists” with a special look at how each team will attack the new league year and how they will use the various methods of adding talent to best prepare their rosters for 2025.
We’ll break it down by division over the coming weeks. Last week, we looked at the NFC East. Up next, a wild AFC East:

Buffalo Bills
2024 Result: 13-4 Reg. Season, AFC Championship Runner Ups
Biggest Needs: CB, Edge, Safety
1st Round Draft Slot: 30th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: -$48.5M
GM Brandon Beane has his work cut out for him this offseason. The Bills are in a deep hole from a cap perspective, and they have several needs, specifically on defense, if they want to even the gap between themselves and the Chiefs even further. They’ll have to get creative with contracts and they’ll need to hit on their early draft selections to fill out their already impressive roster.
If I’m the Bills, I’m focused on fixing the secondary this offseason, much in the way the Philadelphia Eagles did last year. They should target cornerbacks early and often in the draft, as well as help at Safety and up front along the DL. Fortunately for them, this draft class is rich at those positions. I wouldn’t rule out a WR addition of some kind this offseason as well.
Miami Dolphins
2024 Result: 8-9 Reg. Season, Missed Playoffs
Biggest Needs: DL, Safety, DB
1st Round Draft Slot: 13th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $5.2M
Miami’s situation isn’t fun, mostly because they are paying big money to a QB that can’t stay on the field, and even when he is on the field the results are mixed. They need tons of help on Defense as well, with major holes from front to back.
The Fins should be all over this Free Agent CB market, as well as targeting the position early in the Draft. Help up the middle of the DL is imperative too. Given the depth of the DT class in the draft, they could draft a DB in the 1st Round and likely still grab an impact DT on Day 2.
New York Jets
2024 Result: 5-12 Reg. Season, Missed Playoffs
Biggest Needs: QB, OL, DL
1st Round Draft Slot: 7th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $7.1M
The Jets finish the Aaron Rodgers era winning a smaller percentage of games with him as a starter than with Zach Wilson. So, yeah, offseason objective number 1 is pretty clear. Go find a QB. There are a ton of reasons it never worked with Rodgers, but whether it’s a bridge QB or a push to land one of the top QBs in the Draft, New York has to get someone in the building who can help them at least be competitive.
Outside of QB, the Jets have holes on both lines, the most dire being on offense. Adding high end talent at Tackle and Guard should be a big priority early in Free Agency and the Draft. Adding dynamic talent along the DL is also a necessity, as things really crumbled up front for the Jets D in 2024. If the Jets get a competitive passer and improve both sides of the LOS, they should be extremely happy with this offseason.
New England Patriots
2024 Result: 4-13 Reg. Season, Missed Playoffs
Biggest Needs: OL, Edge, WR
1st Round Draft Slot: 4th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $123.9M
The Patriots have their QB after drafting Drake Maye 3rd overall in 2024. They have the most cap space of any team in the league this offseason, and they also possess a top 5 Draft pick. There’s a real scenario where this is one of the most improved teams in the league when it’s all said and done in 2025.
For Mike Vrabel’s first offseason as the lead man in NE, his top priority should be to beef up the Offensive Line across the board. Both OT spots could be upgraded, and adding quality depth and improved starting talent along the interior OL are equally important. Protect your investment at QB by building a wall around him. After that, go add playmakers. The Pats fielded one of the league’s worst offensive supporting casts in 2024. Adding pass rush help should also be a top goal. They don’t have to spend every penny of their cap budget to really turn this roster over in a positive way, especially if they hit on their early Draft picks.
