NFL Offseason Wish Lists: NFC East

The 2024 NFL Season is over, and the 2025 Offseason is in full swing! It’s an exciting time for fans and franchises alike as new hope dawns with the records reset for all 32 squads. With that in mind, I want to do a series looking at all 32 teams “Offseason Wish Lists” with a special look at how each team will attack the new league year and how they will use the various methods of adding talent to best prepare their rosters for 2025.

We’ll break it down by division over the coming weeks. Let’s start with the division that hosts the 2024 Super Bowl Champions: The NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles

2024 Result: 14-3 Reg. Season, Super Bowl Champions
Biggest Needs: Edge, Safety, OL
1st Round Draft Slot: 32nd Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $23.6M

Congratulations to the best team in football in 2024! The Philadelphia Eagles are your Super Bowl Champions, and there’s a strong chance they will only get better this offseason if the follow the gameplan they have used to build the mini dynasty they have over the last decade or so. There are some clear needs, specifically at Edge Rusher and even along the O-line despite that group finishing as one of the best units in football.

The Eagles go about their business a very specific way. They build through the draft and they focus on the trenches and high-impact skill positions on both sides of the ball like WR and CB, and then they fill out the rest of the roster with high quality Free Agents and even Trades. Their front office isn’t afraid to make big moves, offer large guarantees up front, and push the status quo when it comes to contract building and value calculation.

Washington Commanders

2024 Result: 12-5 Reg. Season, NFC Championship Runner Ups
Biggest Needs: CB, Edge, WR
1st Round Draft Slot: 29th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $81.7M

Washington’s meteoric rise from perennial bottom feeder to NFC Title contender in one offseason was as impressive as it was unexpected. They have the most exciting young QB in football in Jayden Daniels, and showed an impressive ability to identify and develop talent quickly. The offensive line was a seeming disaster ahead of 2024, but they played together well and improved tremendously down the stretch, and the presence of Daniels helped to elevate the rest of an offense that ended as the most efficient group of 2024 by a fair margin.

This offseason, the priority should be to bring in big-name talent on Defense, specifically off the edge and in the secondary, in Free Agency, and then double dip at those positions in the Draft. The Offense shouldn’t be overlooked though, as adding a strong WR2 to play opposite the revitalized Terry McLaurin should also be a top priority. With the cap space and draft capital they possess, WAS should be able to improve even more this offseason if they spend wisely.

Dallas Cowboys

2024 Result: 7-10 Reg. Season, Missed Playoffs
Biggest Needs: RB, DL, WR
1st Round Draft Slot: 12th Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $11.5M

Dallas is a tough franchise to project this offseason. They’ve had a ton of turnover on the coaching staff, recently paid stars that failed to meet expectations in 2024, a ton of needs to address this offseason and not a lot of cap space to make a bunch of needle-moving transactions. They will have to absolutely nail the draft to reach the drastic improvement they will be expected to in 2025. Fortunately, they currently are projected to have 10 total selections and 8 inside the top 200.

Their most glaring need might be at one of the games most devalued positions the last few years, but the Cowboys have to give QB Dak Prescott some help in the form of a dynamic running game, and they need a RB to get there after fielding the worst backfield in the league last year. They also need help up front on the defensive side of the ball to stop opposing rushing attacks. Another WR to take some of the pressure off of All-World pass-catcher CeeDee Lamb.

New York Giants

2024 Result: 3-14 Reg. Season, Missed Playoffs
Biggest Needs: QB, OL, DL
1st Round Draft Slot: 3rd Overall
Proj. 2025 Cap Space: $46.5M

In stark contrast to the Cowboys, the New York Football Giants are easy to project. They own a premium Top 5 Draft pick and should have every opportunity to grab one of the top QBs with that pick. After that, it’s best player available for a team that lacked impact playmaking at every level on both sides of the ball, outside of Rookie WR Malik Nabers. If I’m Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, I’m focusing on the trenches to protect my new QB and continue to add to an already strong front 7 on Defense.

With a decent amount of cap space and high draft selections, the Giants could make a solid dent in their roster deficit. Adding along the offensive line and in key spots in the secondary through Free Agency makes sense. The Draft can be used for cornerstone playmakers on both sides of the ball. If you draft well, you could set your roster up for years to come.
