New Look Boston Red Sox Lineup With Alex Bregman

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most improved teams in baseball this offseason.

Boston improved its starting rotation with the addition of Garrett Crochet via a trade with the Chicago White Sox. Now, the lineup is deeper since signing Alex Bregman to a three-year contract.

The Red Sox now have what it takes to put up a fight with the New York Yankees in the AL East. The lineup is among the best in the American League to this point. Check out what the lineup looks like with the addition of Bregman.

Projected Red Sox Lineup

  1. Jarren Duran, OF
  2. Alex Bregman, 2B
  3. Rafael Devers, 3B
  4. Triston Casas, 1B
  5. Trevor Story, SS
  6. Masataka Yoshida, DH
  7. Wilyer Abreu, OF
  8. Connor Wong, C
  9. Ceddanne Rafaela, OF

The addition of Bregman gives the Red Sox two third base options but it seems to have figured itself out. Devers did not show an interest in moving off the position while Bregman had expressed that he will move to second base in the right situation. This is considered an ideal situation.

This also leaves plenty of options in the lineup, which features a strong top six. Jarren Duran is an All-Star option at the top of the lineup. After that, both Bregman and Devers can hit second but it is likely that the newcomer is slated in the two hole. Casas brings pop at the cleanup spot while Trevor Story can round out the top five.

There is also an option for Masataka Yoshida to hit fifth but if Story is healthy, this will be his slot. That will be a big if as Story has missed time and has not been productive when he is on the field.

There are plenty of options for Alex Cora to place this lineup and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
