Cavs Win Third in a Row, Beat the Spurs 124-116

On Thursday March 27th at 7pm eastern time, the 58-14 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 31-40 San Antonio Spurs at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland. The Cavaliers last game was a 122-111 win over at the Portland Trailblazers last Tuesday. The Spurs last game was a 122-96 loss at the Detroit Pistons last Tuesday as well. For the Cavaliers Evan Mobley did not play in this game for rest purposes and Jaylon Tyson was out for a knee injury. Ty Jerome was listed as questionable. He did not play in this game. Out for the Spurs was Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox and Charles Bassey Jr. The Cavaliers were trying for their third consecutive win and their 59th win of the season.

In the first quarter the Spurs started with an 8-0 run, but the Cavaliers closed in and after one quarter of play the Cavaliers led the Spurs 30-24. In the second quarter the Cavaliers stormed out to a sixteen-point lead. But the Spurs fought back and at halftime the Cavaliers still led the Spurs 54-49. In the third quarter the Spurs came back to tie the game. But after three quarters of play the Cavaliers still led the Spurs 86-83. In the fourth and final quarter the game stayed competitive, but the Cavaliers pulled away late in the game to win their third game in a row 124-116. The Cavaliers are now 59-14.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Jarrett Allen with 29 points in 30 minutes. Allen also earned a double-double with 16 rebounds as well. Up next for the 59-14 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to the Motor City on Friday March 28th, 2025, 7 pm eastern time at the Little Caesars Arena to play the 41-32 Detroit Pistons. The Cavaliers magic number is 5 to clinch the top playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. And this Cavaliers team will try to get on step closer to that top seed in Detroit.
