Cavs Outlast the Grizzlies, 133-124
On Friday March 14th at 8 pm eastern time, the 55-10 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Memphis Tennessee to play the 42-24 Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum. The Cavaliers last game was a 109-104 win at home over the Brooklyn Nets last Tuesday. The Grizzlies last game was a 122-115 win at home over the Utah Jazz last Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell was out for the Cavaliers with a groin injury. De’Andre Hunter was listed as probable with an illness. He did play in this game. Out for the Grizzlies was Santi Aldama, Zyon Pullin, and Yuki Kawamura. The Cavaliers were trying for their 56th win of the season. And they went into the game with a 15-game win streak. Although this season has been spectacular for Cleveland, they have yet to win 16 games in row in franchise history.
The first quarter started off as an even contest, but the Cavaliers pulled away in the last two minutes and led after one quarter of play 36-29. To start the second quarter the Cavaliers added to their lead. And at halftime the Cavaliers led the Grizzlies 75-58. In the third quarter the Cavaliers continued to add to their lead and after the third quarter they led 112-92. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers held on to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 133-124. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 56-10 and have won a franchise record 16 games in a row.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Evan Mobley with 22 points in 32 minutes. He also earned a double-double with 12 rebounds. The Cavaliers had seven players with double digit scoring. Up next for the 56-10 Cleveland Cavaliers is hosting the 31-36 Orlando Magic on Sunday March 16th at 1 pm, at the Rocket Arena for a nationally televised feature game. This team will be trying for their 17th consecutive win. That Sunday afternoon will be the day before St. Patrick’s Day. And the luck of the Irish will not be needed for this Cavaliers team.
