Cavs lose lead and season finale to Pacers, 126-118

On Sunday April 13th at 1 pm eastern time, the 64-17 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 49-32 Indiana Pacers at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was 108-102 win on the road against the New York Knicks last Friday night. The Pacers last game was a 120-115 loss at home to the Orlando Magic last Friday as well. The Cavaliers rested all their regular rotational players. The Pacers rested players as well since they were locked into the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Cavaliers already sealed the Eastern Conference one seed, and this game gave an opportunity for younger developmental players to play in the final game of the regular season.

In the first quarter the Cavaliers played aggressive and had the clear advantage and after one quarter of play they led 32-26. In the second quarter the Cavaliers began to pull away from the Pacers and led at halftime 61-44.  In the third quarter the Cavaliers kept up the pace and maintained their lead, and they led after three quarters of play 85-67. In the fourth quarter the Cavaliers gave up their lead and the Pacers tied the game at the end of regulation 105-105. In first overtime both teams each scored four points, and the game was still tied after the first overtime period 109-109. In the second overtime the Pacers had a run and won the game over the Cavaliers 126-118. The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the 2024/2025 regular season with a 64-18 record.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Jaylon Tyson with 31 points in 46 minutes. Up next for the Cleveland Cavaliers is to rest and heal up for the first round of the playoffs. They will play one of three teams. The Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, or the Chicago Bulls will be the Cavaliers first round opponent in the 2025 Playoffs. Whomever emerges as the 8th seed to play the Cavaliers, will have to face a well-rested Cleveland Cavaliers team.
