Cavs Defeat Knicks 124-105, Magic Number Down to 2

On Wednesday April 2nd at 7 pm eastern time, the 60-15 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 48-27 New York Knicks at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was a 127 -122 win over the Los Angeles Clippers last Sunday at home. The Knicks last game was a 105-91 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in New York the previous night. Out for the Cavaliers were Ty Jerome and Dean Wade. Out for the Knicks were Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, Mitchell Robinson, and Cam Payne. The Cavaliers were trying to win their 61st game of the season and lower the magic number from four to clinch the Eastern Conference Playoffs top seeding.

In the first quarter the Knicks shot 70% from the field and led the Cavaliers after one quarter of play 34-28. In the second quarter the Knicks made a run at the start. But the Cavaliers kept the score close and trailed the Knicks at halftime 60-53. In the third quarter the Cavaliers took the lead and stayed ahead of the Knicks after three quarters of play 91-85. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers added to their lead and went on to win their 61st game of the season defeating the New York Knicks 124-105.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 27 points in 30 minutes. This win was a team effort, the Cavaliers had 6 players with double digit scoring. This win coupled with the Boston Celtics loss to the Miami Heat puts the magic number for the Eastern Conference top seed at two. Up next for the 61-15 Cleveland Cavaliers is trip to San Antonio Texas to play the 31-44 San Antonio Spurs on Friday April 4th at 8 pm eastern time, at the Frost Bank Center. With the Cavaliers trying to land the top seed as soon as possible to rest key players for the playoffs. I would expect another team effort Friday night.
