Cavs Defeat Clippers 127-122, Magic Number is 4

On Sunday March 30th, 2025, at 3:30pm eastern time, the 59-15 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 42-31 Los Angeles Clippers at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was 133-122 loss to the Detroit Pistons on the road last Friday. The Clippers last game was a 132-100 win over the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn New York last Friday as well. Out for the Cavaliers were Jaylon Tyson and Ty Jerome. Out for the Clippers were Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Baldwin Jr. The Cavaliers were trying to lower their magic number of 5 for the top playoff seed in Eastern Conference.

In the first quarter both teams played competitive and even, but the Cavaliers surged with a late quarter run. and after one quarter of play the Cavaliers led the Clippers 37-25. In the second quarter the Clippers clawed back to trail within single digits. But at halftime the Cavaliers still led the Clippers 68-64. In the third quarter the Cavaliers jumped out to a fifteen-point lead. And by the end of the third quarter the Cavaliers led the Clippers 105-88. In the fourth and final quarter the Clippers made a run, but the Cavaliers held the lead and won their 60th game of the season 127-122. The Cavaliers magic number is now down to four for the number one playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Jarrett Alen with 25 points in 31minutes. Allen also earned a double-double with 12 rebounds in the game. Up next for the 60-15 Cleveland Cavaliers is the 47-27 New York Knicks on Wednesday April 2nd at 7 pm eastern time at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio.  For this Cavaliers team the final stretch for the playoffs begins with clinching the top seed in the conference. That journey’s final stretch continues Wednesday night in Cleveland.
