Cavs Clinch Top Seed Defeat Bulls, 135-113
On Tuesday April 8th at 7 pm eastern time, the 62-16 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 36-42 Chicago Bulls at the Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was a 120-113 loss at home to Sacramento Kings last Sunday. The Bulls last game was a 131-117 road win over the Charlotte Hornets last Sunday too. Out for the Cavaliers was Donovan Mitchell with an ankle injury. Out for the Bulls were Coby White, Lonzo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu, Kevin Huerter, and Tre Jones. The Cavaliers were looking to lock up the Eastern Conference number one playoff seed with a win.
In the first quarter the game was played even, and the Cavaliers led after one quarter of play 25-24. In the second quarter the Cavaliers outplayed the Bulls and scored 43 points. And at halftime the Cavaliers led the Bulls 68-48. In the third quarter the shorthanded Chicago Bulls showed life and cut into the Cavaliers lead. And after three quarters of play the Cavaliers still led the Bulls 98-85. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers kept their pace and went on to win their 63rd game of the season 135-113. The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially clinched the Eastern Conference top playoff seed.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Darius Garland with 28 points in 29 minutes. Evan Mobley had another double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in 29 minutes of play. Up next for the 63-16 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to Indianapolis Indiana to play the 48-31 Indiana Pacers on Thursday April 10th at 7 pm eastern time at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. With the top playoff seed locked up for this Cavaliers team. The debate will be rest versus rust. Rest will be the priority for playoff preparation. The only thing to question is how much rest will be needed and how much is too much for this team.
