Mike Trout Leads Long-Ball Barrage to Beat Tanner Bibee, Cleveland Guardians
The Cleveland Guardians were locked in a 3-3 battle with the Los Angeles Angels last night before a disastrous fifth inning.
Seven runs later, the Angels were on their way to a 10-4 victory.
Mike Trout bashed his third home run of the season, a 429-foot bomb to center field, to kick off the offensive explosion for the Angels.
A TALE OF TWO GAMES
Carlos Santana hit a solo homer off Jack Kochanowicz in the first inning to give the Guardians an early lead.
The Angels blitzed Cleveland ace Tanner Bibee in the bottom of the first with a solo homer by Luis Rengifo and a two-run shot by Jorge Soler.
Bo Naylor hit a solo shot in the third for Cleveland. Steven Kwan scored on a groundout by Santana to tie the game.
TOUCHED BY SEVERAL ANGELS
Trout started the fifth-inning barrage with a two-run homer off Bibee. O’Hoppe did the same, sending the Guardians’ ace to the showers.
Cleveland reliever Triston McKenzie struggled as well. He gave up a two-run double to Tim Anderson and an RBI single to Taylor Ward.
Cleveland picked up one more run in the eighth inning when Santana scored on a groundout by Nolan Jones.
The rubber match of the series will take place today at 4:07 p.m. Eastern.
Luis Ortiz will try to bounced back from his disastrous Guardians debut, while the Angels will counter with Tyler Anderson.
