Mike Trout Leads Long-Ball Barrage to Beat Tanner Bibee, Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians were locked in a 3-3 battle with the Los Angeles Angels last night before a disastrous fifth inning.

Seven runs later, the Angels were on their way to a 10-4 victory.

Mike Trout bashed his third home run of the season, a 429-foot bomb to center field, to kick off the offensive explosion for the Angels.

A TALE OF TWO GAMES

Carlos Santana hit a solo homer off Jack Kochanowicz in the first inning to give the Guardians an early lead.

The Angels blitzed Cleveland ace Tanner Bibee in the bottom of the first with a solo homer by Luis Rengifo and a two-run shot by Jorge Soler.

Bo Naylor hit a solo shot in the third for Cleveland. Steven Kwan scored on a groundout by Santana to tie the game.

TOUCHED BY SEVERAL ANGELS

Trout started the fifth-inning barrage with a two-run homer off Bibee. O’Hoppe did the same, sending the Guardians’ ace to the showers.

Cleveland reliever Triston McKenzie struggled as well. He gave up a two-run double to Tim Anderson and an RBI single to Taylor Ward.

Cleveland picked up one more run in the eighth inning when Santana scored on a groundout by Nolan Jones.

The rubber match of the series will take place today at 4:07 p.m. Eastern.

Luis Ortiz will try to bounced back from his disastrous Guardians debut, while the Angels will counter with Tyler Anderson.
