Jaden Ivey’s Injury Update

Jaden Ivey’s 2025 got off to a very rocky start. On the very first game of the calendar year Cole Anthony rolled up under him on a loose ball breaking his left fibula, and putting the remainder of his season in serious jeopardy. After a disappointing Sophomore season Ivey began his 3rd year with career highs in points, field goal percentage, and accuracy from beyond the arc.

At this current juncture Ivey is officially out of a walking boot and has been cleared to resume weight-bearing exercises as well as stationary shooting. Ivey stated that he is taking things day by day but has not ruled out the possibility of returning before the season is complete. If not by the end of the year he could be ready in time for the playoffs.

At the time of the injury there no telling whether there would be any thoughts whether playoff was a realistic scenario, but the playoffs have faired quite well in the absence of Ivey. Their record through 35 games without Ivey stands at 23-12. Ivey’s injury has created opportunities for Malik Beasley and Ausar Thompson to maximize their efforts, softening the blow left behind by without the young guard. Detroit elected to sure up their lack of playmaking by trading for veteran guard Dennis Shroeder, which thus far has been a success. Yet and still, the Pistons would benefit from Ivey’s additional electric play in the open floor and scoring gravity in the half court. Ivey could quite possibly be the scoring punch they need to solidify the team’s chances at making a strong playoff push this year. The Pistons are second in the NBA in fast break points trailing behind only the Denver Nuggets with 19.2 per game. Ivey was averaging 17 points per game on 46% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. Stay tuned for any updates on the injury at FFSN.
