Emiliano Teodo Not Likely To Break Camp Despite Strong Spring

One of, if not the biggest standout of Rangers Spring Training so far, is Rangers number six prospect Emiliano Teodo.

In 3.1 innings, Teodo hasn’t allowed a run while striking out four and having a strong WHIP of 0.90.

Obviously, the numbers themselves are impressive, but it’s the way that Teodo is getting it done that is eye-popping.

Teodo has been pumping out a sinker in the high 90’s even hitting 100 at times with a breakout slider in the high 80’s.

Despite that, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy doesn’t wanna rush anything.

Bochy said that Teodo is “on the outside looking in.” He mentioned that nothing will be ruled out, but it sounds like Teodo will start the season in the minor leagues.

The Rangers have made it clear that they want to protect Teodo’s health while also letting him continue to develop as a starter.

Last season at AA Frisco, Teodo had one of the best seasons of any minor league starter in a short sample size, finishing with a 1.98 ERA in 86.1 innings.

2025 will be a big year for Teodo as he will likely get to test his stuff against the best hitters in the minor leagues with AAA Round Rock.

However, the wait may not be much longer for Teodo to come to Arlington and make an impact on the big league club.

Teodo very well could make his MLB debut at some point this season, either as a starter or in the bullpen.

It’s been well documented that the Rangers’ pitching development hasn’t always hit, but Teodo certainly has the stuff to change that as soon as this year.
