Duke earns 2 seed in NCAA Women’s Tournament
The Duke Blue Devils capped off an amazing 2024-2025 regular season by winning the 2025 ACC Tournament, and that earned them a nice reward in the NCAA Tournament. The women’s bracket was revealed on Sunday night, and Duke earned a 2 seed in the Birmingham 2 region.

Duke will host their pod at Cameron Indoor Stadium and will play 15-seed Lehigh on Friday night at 8:00pm ET, with coverage on ESPNU. Should they win in the first round, they would faace the winner of 7-seed Vanderbilt versus 10-seed Oregon on Sunday. The winner of that second round matchup would advance to Birmingham for the Sweet 16, with the hopes of winning the region and getting to Tampa for the Final Four.
South Carolina as the 1 seed in the Birmingham 2 region on the opposite end of the regional bracket from Duke, with Maryland as the 4 seed. Duke lost to Maryland in an early season non-conference matchup in College Park back in November, while they also lost to South Carolina on the road in December. Archrivals North Carolina join Duke as the 3 seed in the region, setting up a potential rivalry game in the Sweet 16. Duke and UNC split their two matchups this season, with each winning at home.
It’s Duke’s 27th appearance in the NCAA Women’s Tournament, the third straight under head coach Kara Lawson. It’s the 10th time they will play as the 2 seed. They hope to use the home court of Cameron to their advantage, as they were 13-1 at home this season. Overall, Duke was 26-7 this season with eight wins against ranked opponents, including five wins against top 10 opponents. They faced 15 teams during the regular season that made the NCAA Tournament.
Duke finished as the #7 team in the Associated Press poll after winning the ACC Tournament for the ninth time. They currently have a six-game winning streak entering the tournament. They hope to add six more to that streak on their quest to win a national championship.
