Drew McIntyre Joins Smackdown Roster, Qualifies for Elimination Chamber

Drew McIntyre is back in championship contention after moving to the Smackdown roster last night.

He won the World title from Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, only to be attacked by CM Punk. This caused him to immediately lose the belt to Damien Priest, who cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase.

McIntyre and Punk had the Feud of the Year, culminating in Drew’s loss to Punk in a Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood.

Last night in Memphis, Tenn., McIntyre popped up on Smackdown and said he wanted Cody Rhodes’ WWE title.

He took a step in that direction by defeating LA Knight and Jimmy Uso in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match.

So he will see Punk again in the Chamber on March 1, along with John Cena.

Next week’s qualifier on Smackdown will be Damien Priest vs. Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu. That will be a crazy match.

MORE CHAMBER QUALIFIERS

Bianca Belair defeated Piper Niven in the opening bout to qualify for the Chamber.

Alexa Bliss is also going into the Chamber, building on her wildly popular return at the Royal Rumble. Bliss defeated Candice LeRae last night.

Liv Morgan is the other qualifier, so both Chambers are half full.

INDECISIVE RUMBLE WINNERS

Jey Uso talked to WWE champion Cody Rhodes, but he didn’t decide between him and Gunther for his WrestleMania title shot.

Similarly, Charlotte Flair talked to WWE women’s champ Tiffany Stratton but didn’t make a choice. However, Nia Jax announced that she was getting a shot at Tiffy next week on Smackdown.

OTHER ACTION

Carmelo Hayes defeated Akira Tozawa with his “Nothing But Net” finisher off the top rope.

Pretty Deadly upset #DIY in a non-title match to earn a shot at the WWE tag team title.

In the main event, Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso defeated Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu. Cody won the with Cross Rhodes on Tonga, only to be attacked by the returning Solo Sikoa to end the show.
