Cubs beat Dodgers 4-2 behind huge night from Pete Crow-Armstrong

Pete Crow-Armstrong was an elite center fielder from the moment he stepped on a Major League Baseball field, but there have been questions about his hitting. PCA quieted some of those questions on Sunday Night Baseball when he hit two home runs and a triple in the Chicago Cubs’ 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. PCA said after the game it was the first two-homer game of his baseball life. The night was extra special for PCA as his parents were sitting in the crowd.

Colin Rea got the start for the Cubs in the place of the injured Justin Steele. It was announced earlier in the day that Steele will miss the remainder of the season because he needs surgery on his injured left elbow. Rea struck out five in 3 2/3 innings and allowed just one run. The Cubs’ bullpen was excellent, giving up just one run over the final 5 1/3 innings.

Michael Busch also added his third home run of the season in the win.

Chicago has the toughest schedule of any team in baseball this month. They have held up admirably, playing to an 11-7 record. They open a three-game series in San Diego tomorrow. Jameson Taillon gets the start for the Cubs, facing off against Dylan Cease for the Padres.
