Cleveland Guardians Coming Home After 3-6 Opening Road Trip
The Cleveland Guardians are finally coming home after opening the 2025 season with a 3-6 record on the road.
The Los Angeles Angels beat the Guardians 6-2 on Sunday at Angel Stadium.
Luis Ortiz pitched much better for Cleveland, lasting six innings and giving up three runs. He still lost, and his ERA dropped to 8.44.
Lane Thomas gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly to score Jose Ramirez.
Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe tied the score with a solo homer in the bottom of the second. It was his fourth straight game with a home run.
Kyren Paris scored on an error by Guardians’ left fielder Steven Kwan to give the Angels a 2-1 lead in the second.
Kyle Manzardo tied the game for Cleveland with a solo homer off Tyler Anderson in the fourth. That was the only hit that Anderson surrendered in five innings of work.
DISNEYLAND IS CLOSED
Cleveland couldn’t muster any more runs in the final four innings against the Angels bullpen.
Jorge Soler broke the tie with a solo homer in the sixth that sent Ortiz to the clubhouse.
Los Angeles extended its lead to 5-2 in the seventh on sacrifice flies by Luis Rengifo and Soler.
Paris, the Angels’ second baseman, added a solo homer in the eighth off Paul Sewald.

The Guardians will become the last team to celebrate its home opener on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.
First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. at Progressive Field. Ben Lively will start for the Guardians against Shane Smith for the White Sox.
