Clayton Kershaw Aims to Make History After Returning to Dodgers

Well, the final domino fell that completed the tri-fecta of pitching signings. The three future Hall of Game pitchers have made their moves, with Max Scherzer signing with the Blue Jays, Justin Verlander with the Giants and Joe Clayton Kershaw returning to the Dodgers.

There was very little room to believe that Kershaw would end up being in anything other than Dodger Blue, no matter how crowded that pitching room is becoming. Kershaw is a Dodgers legend and is returning for his 18th season. In fact, he has the chance to make history during the 2025 campaign.

Kershaw Aiming to Make History

There’s no denying that Kershaw is one of the best pitchers to play this great game. His legacy in this sport is cemented and his legendary status as a Dodger will live on forever. For Kershaw, not only does he get get to return to the only team he’s ever known, but also looks to make history while doing so.

There is truly no telling where Kershaw will pitch. Is he going to be in the rotation? Give spot starts? So the long relief thing? Remains to be seen, but Dave Roberts has options. Regardless, his ability to make history and join the 3,000 strikeout club is within striking distance.

All Kershaw needs is 32 strikeouts to achieve that mark, which seems very doable. He would be joining elite company if he reaches the mark, as Randy Johnson, CC Sabathia, and Steve Carlton are the only left handed pitchers to reach that mark. Only 19 pitchers in total have reached the mark, with Scherzer being the latest to join that club.

With the Dodgers coming off winning a championship and improved their club to attempting to repeat, Kershaw could make history for himself, while adding to his other accolades as a Dodger.

Kershaw Cementing his Dodgers Legacy

Kershaw is without question one of the best pitchers to put on a Dodgers uniform. This is a pitcher who has the second most wins (212), third best ERA, and is the all time strikeouts leader and eclipsing 3,000 would make him the first in Dodgers history.

Prime Kershaw was quite the pitcher and one of the best and at the top of his game. From 2008-2016, Kershaw never had a batting average against that reach above .210 other than his rookie season. In addition, his ERA never reached 3.00 and from 2013-2017, he had a WHIP below 1.00. Kershaw was untouchable and his accolades are through the roof.

Kershaw is an NL MVP winner, a 10x All-Star, three time CY Young Winner, and a 2x World Series Champion. Nothing brought fans greater joy seeing the excitement of Kershaw at the parade held at Dodgers Stadium.

His legacy in Dodger Blue continues and history can be made in the process.
