Baseball Bets: Sunday Funday Edition
What’s weekend of baseball! Today marks the finale for most teams, so there’s a lot of juicy picks to tackle on for today. Hats off to the Dodgers who get the night off and they get to enjoy what was a series sweep! Anyways, let’s get on to today.
Ketel Marte 2+ Total Bases (+100)
The real pick should be Eugenio Suarez, who is having one of the best starts to the season and keeps hitting home runs for the Diamondbacks. But another player is also worthy of this pick and deservedly so. Second baseman Ketel Marte locking him in for 2+ total bases is a good pick.
Marte already has seven total bases in this series, which is very good even though he couldn’t solve Shota Imanaga. But today is a good day for a nice double for Marte. Marte will be taking on the lefty in Matthew Boyd, who will be making his first Cubs start and Marte had success against lefties last season. He finished with a 3.42 average and an OPS of 1.080. Also, he had 29 extra bass hits, so I like the production out of him today.
New York Yankees Money Line (-142)
Let’s just get the brooms out shall we. The Yankees have absolutely dusted the Brewers up and down the diamond in this series. They hit a record nine home runs in the game yesterday and Aaron Judge paved the way. I guess we will see if anything comes from their new bats they’ve designed, but that’s a topic for another day.
Civale is a good pitcher, but has not faired out well against the Yankees. He is 1-4 and with a 5.52 ERA in six starts. Marcus Stroman is indeed a starter here today, which could end up making this pick sour, but that Yankees offense has delivered. If you are a Yankees fan, you have to be thrilled.
Bailey Ober Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-110)
The quality start king is back and making his debut against the Cardinals. Shoutout to the Cardinals offense, who has been quite good in this series. Joe Ryan did a good job, but the bullpen soured what was a strong start. But the Cardinals have quite the test in facing Ober, who is another tough customer of pitchers.
Ober is a machine on the mound. Hitting 5 strikeouts should not be a challenge. In 31 starts last season, Ober hit the mark 21 times, so the odds for this are quite good. Ober is prone to getting people to chase and to whiff and did in fact finish in the 78th percentile for strikeout rate.
He will have a challenge in the Cardinals offense, but I like the odds of this hitting.
