Baseball Bets: April Fools Day Edition

Dustin May over 4.5 Strikeouts (+135)

As a fan, Dustin May is one of my favorite pitchers to watch. The movement he has on his pitches sometimes is pure wizardry. But he did miss all of the 2024 season, so people might forget how good he was.

This is a pitcher who brings the velocity with his pitches. His sinker was untouchable in 2023, with a .161 batting average against. His slider had his highest whiff percentage with 26%. He also had quite the mix for what was his best put away pitch.

He is taking on a Braves team who has one run in the last three games combined. The offense is struggling and that’s with them losing Jurickson Profar due to suspension. The Braves have struck out 50 times this season, so I like the idea of May piggy backing off Glasnow and his eight punch outs.

Royals Moneyline (-110)

As of right now, it’s pretty safe to bet in favor of the team that is playing the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers are winless to start the year and have allowed 47 runs and have a -32 run differential. It does not help that they sit dead last in team ERA and dead last in just about every pitching category.

The Royals do in fact have the pitching. They have the hitting and that’s a recipe for success against a team that is slumping in a bad way to start the year. Big fan of the Royals and what they are doing so, this is an easy W.

Bobby Witt Jr 2+ Total Bases (-115)

This is a pretty appetizing dish if you are looking into this matchup. Coming to the mound is Chad Patrick, who has an 18.00 ERA in one start this season. The boys in the Bronx sure got to him.

Witt Jr had two total bases yesterday when facing the lefty. As evidenced above, the pitching for the Brewers had not been good. What Witt Jr does a better job of is hitting righties and did so in 2024.

He was hitting .336 and had a slugging percentage of .612. Even better, his OPS was 1.012 and with a towering 177 wRC+. Yeah, I’m gonna take the good hitter over what’s been a weak pitching staff to start the season.
