Baseball Bets: A New Week Ahead, Monday Edition

Tyler Glasnow over 6.5 Strikeouts (-125)

The man with the best flow in the show gets to make his first start of the season for the Dodgers. When healthy, this is a machine of a pitcher and he was having quite the season before he did get hurt.

Glasnow finished the year with a 3.49 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. Also, he finished with 168 strikeouts and finished in the 95th percentile for strikeout rate. Pretty good. Now, he gets to face a Braves lineup that struggled mightily offensively against the Padres.

The Braves failed to score a single run the final two games of their four game series against the Padres. Also, they had one hit Sunday night. They’ve also struck out 36 times, which is not very good.

This is a lineup that really should be doing more damage, but being able to survive against Glasnow? Good luck.

Bowden Francis over 4.5 Strikeouts (-130)

Now this is not to say that Bowden Francis is on the same tier as the Phillies pitchers and not remotely close. However, every pitcher on the Phillies that faced the Nationals lineup was able to hit this mark. If the trend continues, Francis should have this with ease and allow this pick to hit and be a win.

Francis was a bright spot towards the second half of the season when joining the Blue Jays rotation. His month of August saw him reach 39 strikeouts, so it is something that can get done.

Given the way the Nationals performed offensively, seeing five strikeouts from him is a doable feat.

Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (+125)

When Freddie Freeman makes contact with the baseball, big things are going to be happening. So far this season, Freeman has three hits and one has gone for a double and two have gone for home runs.

This one is as simple as it gets. Freeman is a reliable bat and a stable bat and this is a player that legitimately is a lock for 2+ bases if he’s getting a hit. I like it against the Braves as they’ve gotten into the bottom of their rotation.
