San Diego Padres Money line (-142)
This is a phenomenal pitching matchup to tune into. Michael King has been an absolute gem on the mound and has been a rock for them in the rotation. He will go head to head with Rays southpaw Shane Baz, who is also off to a very nice start this season. This will be a duel for the ages, but the Padres simply execute at home.
Going into Citi Field to play the Mets is a challenge, but so is the Padres at Petco Park. The Padres simply don’t lose at home and are 12-1 at home this season. The Rays offense has been a surprise this season, but the Padres are just a gauntlet of a team on their home diamond.
Andrew Abbott 6+ Strikeouts (-115)
A lot of the chatter is about Hunter Greene and the magnificent start he’s put on display. But once Andrew Abbott made his debut, he’s been flawless through his starts and is rocking a 1.64 ERA and is 2-0 for the season.
Abbott struck out five in his first outing against the Pirates, but had a whopping 11 strikeouts against the Orioles. He is taking on a Rockies club who’s been inept offensively. Furthermore, they have the highest strikeout rate of any team in baseball and have also struck out the most of any team in baseball.
It is a pretty ideal recipe if you are Andrew Abbott and the Reds should secure a win due to his performance.
Pavin Smith Over 0.5 Walks
Do not sleep on the name that is Pavin Smith. He has been productive the plate and has given the team offense it needs with Ketel Marte on the sidelines. But he is also a walks machine and his on base percentage speaks volumes to that.
Smith has generated 8 walks in the month of April and has walked in his last three games, including two times against the Rays Wednesday. Chris Sale has not entirely been his CY Young self this season and is walking at least one batter per start this season. Sale is still a phenomenal pitcher and the walk won’t come easy. But I like Smith to keep the trend going.
