AEW Revolution: Christian Takes the Edge Off Adam Copeland’s Title Hopes

Edge & Christian were one of the most successful teams in WWE, but they keep getting in each other’s way in AEW.

Edge (Adam Copeland) challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World title in the main event of the Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday night.

Christian Cage, who had won a Money in the Bank-style contract last summer in London at All In, cashed in the title shot during the match.

Moxley won the Triple Threat match by forcing Cage to submit, so Copeland’s title shot is gone as Mox moves on to new challengers.

WHO’S NEXT?

Swerve Strickland defeated Ricochet to become the No. 1 contender to the AEW title. He also regained Jimmy Rave’s Embassy robe and solidified his partnership with manager Prince Nana.

“Hangman” Adam Page is also closing in on a chance to regain the World title after winning the show-opening grudge match with MJF. Hangman hit the Buckshot Lariat for the victory.

HOLLYWOOD ENDING

The “Queen of the Ring” movie opened this weekend, and Mildred Burke would have been proud of the two outstanding women’s title matches at Revolution.

“Timeless” Toni Storm retained the AEW women’s title by defeating Mariah May in a bloody “Hollywood Ending” match.

This insane bout featured chairs, chains, and broken champagne bottles as weapons. Storm won with a piledriver through a table, and the video screen displayed “The End.”

Mercedes Mone continued her impressive streak, defeating Momo Watanabe to retain the TBS championship.

The Hurt Syndicate wiped out The Outrunners to retain the AEW tag team championship.

TOUGH NIGHT FOR CALLIS

The Don Callis Family lost both of its high-profile matches despite strong performances. Kenny Omega beat Konosuke Takeshita to win the AEW International title.

Will Ospreay won an amazing steel cage match over Kyle Fletcher after hitting a Spanish Fly from the top of the cage.

Kazuchika Okada retained the Continental title by defeating Brody King. Fans are hoping for another classic Okada vs. Omega match in the future.

ZERO HOUR

Hologram & Komander opened the Zero Hour pre-show with a win over Blake Christian & Lee Johnson. Hologram hit a 450 splash for the victory.

Daniel Garcia & The Undisputed Kingdom beat Shane Taylor Promotions in an eight-man tag team match. Despite teaming with Garcia, Adam Cole is still gunning for the TNT title.

Gravity didn’t get his Ring Of Honor title shot as Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith destroyed him before the match. Gravity lost his mask as his brother, Bandido, was unable to make the save.

Big Boom AJ scored another AEW victory. He teamed with Orange Cassidy & Mark Briscoe to beat MxM Collection & Johnny TV. AJ pinned Mason Madden after a Triple Powerboom.
