AEW Dynamite: Tough Times for Jeff Jarrett
Jeff Jarrett’s dream of winning the AEW World title will have to wait for another day.
He had a chance to earn a title shot last night on Dynamite, if he could handle the tall task of beating Claudio Castagnoli.
Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta interfered to help their Death Riders teammate. Claudio hit two Neutralizer piledrivers for the win.
To make matters worse for the 57-year-old Jarrett, MJF came to the ring after the match and knocked him out with the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
Jarrett had refused MJF’s offer to help him win the championship in exchange for the first title shot.
MORE DEATH RIDERS
Yuta finally got the match he wanted with “Switchblade” Jay White. However, he lost when White hit the Blade Runner.
The other Death Riders tried to attack White, but FTR came to the rescue along with “The Rated-R Superstar” Cope.
FTR challenged Moxley and Yuta to a “Mid-South Street Fight” for Saturday’s Collision.
Moxley also explained to interviewer Renee Paquette (his wife) why he keeps the AEW World title hidden in a briefcase.
Mox said that he is the World championship. It’s in his heart. The champ added that he is building an army of Jon Moxleys.
So the idea is that the Death Riders are bullying the entire roster to toughen them up and eventually take AEW to greater heights.
FAMILY MATTERS
Will Ospreay defeated Brian Cage in the opener. Kenny Omega saved Ospreay from a post-match attack by Cage and Lance Archer.
Unfortunately, Don Callis had two other family members (Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher) for a 4-on-2 beatdown.
Ricochet won a crowd-pleasing match with AR Fox to prepare for his battle with Swerve Strickland on next week’s Dynamite.
MONE AND MAGIC
In the main event, Mercedes Mone retained the TBS title with a win over “The Magical Girl” Yuka Sakazaki.
Mone is carrying four championships from around the globe. She is somehow more successful than when she competed in WWE as Sasha Banks.
