AEW Dynamite: Samoa Joe and Friends Target the Death Riders

Samoa Joe’s team, The Opps, battled Jon Moxley and The Death Riders at the start and finish of last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Baltimore, Md.

Things didn’t go well at the beginning, as Katsuyori Shibata lost a non-title match to AEW World champion Jon Moxley.

However, Samoa Joe & Hook won the main event over Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta.

After the bout, Joe issued a challenge for the Death Riders’ AEW trios title.

The other member of the Death Riders, PAC, suffered an ankle injury that led to a quick loss to Swerve Strickland.

WHY, BUCKS, WHY?

The Young Bucks gave two explanations for why they helped Moxley beat Swerve to retain the World title at the Dynasty pay-per-view on Sunday.

They did it to help their old buddy, “Hangman” Adam Page, who had vowed to prevent Swerve from regaining the title.

Keep in mind that Hangman came to the ring during the match, but he couldn’t decide whether to follow through on his promise.

The Bucks also said they want to make peace with The Death Riders, who succeeded where they failed in their efforts to take over AEW.

This led to Kenny Omega talking, Kazuchika Okada interrupting, and Swerve coming out of the crowd. This conflict could be leading to Anarchy in the Arena at next month’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

OTHER BOUTS

Will Ospreay, Kevin Knight, Mark Briscoe & Speedball Mike Bailey won a $400,000 eight-man match over Ricochet, CRU & The Beast Mortos.

Kris Statlander defeated Thunder Rosa in an Owen Hart Cup quarterfinal match.

The other two quarterfinal matches will take place this Saturday on Collision, with Jamie Hayter vs. Billie Starkz; and Athena vs. Harley Cameron.
