Adolis Garcia’s Lofty Expectations For A Bounce Back Season
Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia not only plays the game with extreme confidence, he sets expectations with that same belief.
“That’s what I like to do [set the bar high], that’s why I’m here,” Garcia said when meeting with the media for the first time this Spring.
With a clean slate of health for the first time since September of the 2023 season, Garcia has some big goals for a bounce-back season in 2025.
“50 home runs and 100 RBI and to help the team win,” Garcia said when asked about his goals for the upcoming season.
It isn’t just at the plate that Garcia wants to produce big, he also has his eyes set on the base paths.
“I don’t know” when asked how many steals he wants to get this season. “Maybe 30, 40 you never know,” Garcia said through a translator.
Ultimately, it’s the fact that Garcia is finally healthy that’s allowing him to dream big which isn’t lost upon from Bruce Bochy’s perspective.
“He [Garcia] looks so much different,” Bochy said Wednesday. “It’s really evident he’s worked so hard this winter to get back to being the player he was the year before.
Part of that work included staying in DFW this winter to work with Rangers coaches and teammates such as Leody Taveras, Marcus Semien, and others.
Through that work came an adjusted batting stance that Garica and the Rangers hope to bring back some positive results.
“He’s shorter to everything,” Bochy said. “Just more direct to the ball, he’s not trying to lift it so much, that’s what I’ve noticed here in the early part of Spring.
“He’s so strong, he doesn’t have to get long [and] try to hit home runs, I’m sure he wants to hit those home runs, that’s who he is but it’s all about hitting it hard, if he hits it hard, it’s gonna go out”.
Much of the Rangers offensive bounce back in 2025 will rely on improvements from their existing core and Garcia is at the forefront of that.
If Garcia walks away with even half of the MVP-level season that he is expecting, there is no doubt the Rangers will be in great shape.
