Aaron Rodgers’ Time In NY Is Over?
Do you remember when Aaron Rodgers was supposed to “change things” in New York? Do you remember when he was traded to the Jets a number of years ago, and was supposed to be the ‘savior’ that the green and white were waiting for?
Well…
BREAKING: The #Jets informed Aaron Rodgers in a meeting last week that they will be moving on from him, per @JayGlazer. His time with the Jets is over. pic.twitter.com/yCmpQuQgKH

It looks like that ended up being a big-old pile of malarkey. It looks like all of that ‘hype’ and ‘hoopla’ was all for not, as the New York Jets are officially looking to move on from the 10x Pro-Bowler.
Rodgers, for those of you who may have forgotten, was sent to the Jets back in 2023 with the #15 AND #170 overall picks. In exchange, Green Bay ended up receiving the #13, #42, #207 AND a 2024 2nd-round pick. It was a major deal that signaled a shift in power for both LaFleur and former Jets’ HC Robert Saleh’s squads, at the time.
But sadly for the New York faithful…the first year ended up being quite a stinker, with Rodgers OBLITERATING his achilles on the fourth play of his tenure with the team. In a moment that felt like God slapping every single New Yorker in the face…..the Jets’ season was basically over, before it even got started.
Aaron Rodgers injury appears to be either Lisfranc foot injury, ankle sprain or possibly even Achilles. Similar mechanism to JK Dobbins injury Sunday.
Best case is ankle sprain. Will miss several weeks best case. pic.twitter.com/MQFjdPHxCX— Dr. Mark Adickes (@jocktodoc) September 12, 2023
But then, after MONTHS of physical therapy, the 4x All-Pro was able to come back for the 2024 season. He was able to return to the field, and OFFICIALLY start on the quest to bring joy and honor back to this franchise. The issue with that though, is that even though Rodgers didn’t have a terrible year in his own right;
63 Cmp%, 3,897 Yds, 6.7 Y/A, 28 TDs, 11 INTs
This team actually looked WORSE than they did a year prior. They actually finished with a WORST RECORD with Rodgers at the helm (5-12), compared to when Zach Wilson was the “main man” on the team (7-10). It was just an absolute CALAMITY of a season that had so much promise, to the point where it left fans across New York asking themselves; “what the hell happened?”
(I’m sure they were saying other things besides that. But that’s neither here nor there….)
Simply put; the Jets will always be the Jets, regardless of who’s at QB. It seems like this team is cursed, they will always be cursed…..and I don’t know how they will ever fix it.
I know this is a really sad point to bring up, especially on Super Bowl Sunday (as of writing this). Hell; some may say that it’s a “low blow,” and that I’m a jerk for talking about it. But you know what……it just had to be done. It was an absolute TRAVESTY for this organization to get their fan’s spirits up, only to fail them like they always do. Shame on them!
Hopefully they can fix their problems soon…..or at least make the playoffs this decade! But as always, what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
