Raiders Select Ashton Jeanty at Sixth Overall

The Las Vegas Raiders have selected their first pick in the John Spytek era. They’ve gone ahead and selected Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick. They needed a running back and selected the best one in this draft class.

Raiders Select Jeanty

This was a no brainer decision if you are the Raiders. Since Josh Jacobs bolted for the Green Bay Packers, the Raiders have yet to fill the hole he left behind. The quarterback play has been subpar, but the Raiders run game was virtually non-existent.

During the 2024 regular season, the Raiders run game was poor and ranked near the bottom of the league. They were dead last in rushing yards and struggled to muster up anything on the ground. The Raiders have playmakers on the offensive side of the ball with Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers, but they need a running game. Enter Jeanty.

Jeanty is everything you want in a running back. He’s quick, athletic, and runs with raw power and authority. He was a runner up for the Heisman Trophy and had a career year at Boise State. Jeanty rushed for 2,607 yards and scored 29 touchdowns. He helped in the pass game too, making him a great weapon for the Raiders this upcoming season.

The Raiders have other areas to address this draft and can easily find them in the later rounds. But the Raiders absolutely hit a home run with this draft selection, which is something they’ve done all offseason.

Geno Smith, Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and Jeanty. This is the most exciting offense is quite some time and gives Chip Kelly numerous options.
