3 Potential Surprises In The 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is upon us and many teams are preparing to add the next wave of talent.

Each year, there are many surprise picks that turn out to be stars at the next level. This happens on both sides of the ball at multiple positions.

Who will be the surprises of this year’s draft? Check out three players with great potential in the NFL.

3. Trey Amos, Ole Miss, CB

Trey Amos turned into a lockdown corner in his final season at Ole Miss. He burst onto the scene but taking on some of the top receivers on the outside and showing his overall ball skills. The 6-foot-1 corner has great instincts and can break on a ball quickly. He totaled 13 pass breakups with there interceptions last season. Travis Hunter and Will Johnson have been touted as the top corners in the draft but Amos will likely be taken in the first round. Many teams in the 20s, such as the Minnesota Vikings or Buffalo Bills, could be in on the corner.

2. Donovan Jackson, Ohio State, OG

Jackson is a former five-star recruit that was an anchor along the offensive line for the National Champions this past season. At 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, Jackson brings NFL-ready size and versatility. He will likely move inside to guard but has plenty plenty of tackle during his time with the Buckeyes. Jackson played the highest level of college football possible and prepared for the next level within a great program at Ohio State.

1. Tyler Shough, Louisville

There is a lot of buzz around this quarterback class but not for good reason. Teams remain skeptical about adding a signal caller this year after one of the deepest quarterback drafts we have seen in recent memory last year. When you get into the weeds of it all, you land at Louisville product Tyler Shough. There will be some hesitancy with Shough give this age. He will turn 26 in his rookie year after seven years in college. For reference, he was part of the same recruiting class as Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. The allure of Shough is that he does not come with a first-run grade. There will be many teams that could wait for day two and Shough brings experience. We have seen that quarterbacks who play a lot of football in college typically progress quicker in the NFL.
