Rangers Get Updates On Leiter, Langford, Smith
Before Thursday night’s game against the Angels, the Rangers got some injury updates on some key pieces.
Jack Leiter threw a live BP session this afternoon before Rangers batting practice and came out “well,” according to Rangers manager Bruce Bochy.
Leiter faced both Ezequiel Duran and Kevin Pillar and went through three “ups” or innings facing each hitter six times.
When all was said and done, Leiter struck out six batters, getting Duran five times and Pilliar once.
According to Bochy, the Rangers staff will meet and determine what the next step for Leiter is and whether or not he needs a rehab start.
One player who does need a rehab start is Wyatt Langford, who will begin a stint with AA Frisco tonight.
Langford is eligible to be reinstated from the IL on Saturday when the Rangers take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Another position player, Josh Smith, remains out of the lineup with a jammed thumb. Bochy said that Smith “still feels it”.
On Thursday, Smith is once again not in the lineup, getting another day off. Getting another day isn’t super intriguing but we will see if Texas will be able to continue keeping Smith off the IL.
