Today, The Dallas Wings Franchise Changes Forever

It’s hard to have a much better start as the GM of a franchise than Curt Miller did when taking over the Dallas Wings back in November.

Upon his hiring, the Wings won the WNBA Draft Lottery for the first time in their franchise’s short history.

In a recently shared social media video, Miller was seen jumping for joy when the Wings card was pulled for the number one pick.

β€œIt’s such an energizing day already β€” what a number one pick does for your fanbase, it energizes your team,” Miller said the night of the lottery.

The top of the 2025 draft class gives Miller and Wings fans across the metroplex much reason to jump for joy.

Superstar UConn point guard Paige Bueckers is projected to be selected by Dallas after a storied college career.

Bueckers capped off four historic seasons in Storrs by leading the Huskies past the mighty South Carolina Gamecocks in the National Championship game.

While leading UConn to a record 12th title, Bueckers averaged 24.8 points, 4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Throughout her college career, Bueckers averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per contest.

Now, Bueckers will almost certainly be taking her talents from Storrs to Dallas-Fort Worth, looking to re-energize a Wings team that went just 9-31 last season.

If Bueckers is selected by the Wings and has a strong rookie season, she and Arike Ogunbowale will create one of the best backcourts in the WNBA.

Combine Bueckers and Ogunbowale with a strong post presence in Teaira McCowan as well as some eye-popping new additions, and Wings fans can start to dream about what the 2025 season could become.

Regardless of what happens tonight or in the season to come, April 14th, 2025, will be a day that changes the trajectory of the Dallas Wings franchise forever.
