WrestleMania X Flashback: Two of the Greatest Matches in History (1994)
WrestleMania X wasn’t a great show top to bottom, but it featured two amazing matches that have stood the test of time.
The grand spectacle returned to Madison Square Garden in New York City, the site of the first WrestleMania.
Owen Hart defeated Bret Hart in the opening match. This was an outstanding technical bout, and Owen scored a huge upset.
This is my favorite match ever, partially because I’m a little brother. If you know, you know.
The other five-star bout was the first ladder match in World Wrestling Federation history.
Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels to settle their dispute over who was the rightful Intercontinental champion.
Ladder matches are still popular three decades later, and this is still one of the best. Michaels delivered an amazing athletic performance.
WILL YOKO RUN OUT OF GAS?
Yokozuna, the 500-pound WWF champion, defended the title twice because Bret Hart and Lex Luger were the co-winners of Royal Rumble 94.
Luger got the first shot, but he was disqualified by special referee Mr. Perfect. This was payback for Luger’s victory over Perfect at WrestleMania IX with the loaded forearm.
Bret bounced back from his loss to defeat Yoko in the main event. The Hitman recaptured the belt he had lost to Yoko one year earlier.
Owen showed up during the celebration, realizing that he was right back in his big brother’s shadow.
OTHER BOUTS
Men on a Mission (Mo & Mabel) defeated The Quebecers (Jacques & Pierre), but they didn’t earn the WWF tag team title on a countout victory.
Here are the other results from WrestleMania X:
· Bam Bam Bigelow & Luna Vachon beat Doink the Clown & Dink
· Women’s champion Alundra Blayze defeated Leilani Kai
· Earthquake squashed Adam Bomb
· Randy Savage beat Crush in a Falls Count Anywhere match
