Red Sox Walk it Off in the Tenth Inning to Win the Series Finale

Oh boy did the Red Sox ever need that victory. It was tough sledding in the first three games for the Red Sox, scoring four runs in the first three games. However, they managed to dig deep against the Blue Jays team and grab a victory in the series finale. It took extra innings once again, but the Red Sox won the game 4-3.

Red Sox Walk It Off in Extras

We once again had a very good pitching duel. Chris Bassit and Walker Buehler pitched very well deep into their outings and kept this game scoreless into the seventh inning. This was encouraging, especially for Buehler.

Buehler did not have a bad outing in his first start at Fenway Park, but it had its flaws. In this outing, Buehler absolutely wheeled and dealed and got a very much deserved ovation from the Fenway faithful. Buehler pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just four hits. He limited his walks and struck out seven batters, which is the most this season. The Red Sox did the inevitable, giving their pitcher run support.

The Red Sox struck first and used their speed in order to do so. Jarren Duran hit a single and then stole second and eventually made his way to third base. Alex Bregman drove in the first run of the game, but the Blue Jays struck back with two runs of their own.

Onto the chaotic ninth inning. The Red Sox found themselves down a run and had the bases loaded. Off a wild pitch, Rob Refsnyder scored to tie the game. The play was under review to see if the pitch hit Triston Casas, but it didn’t. TO EXTRAS!

The Blue Jays scored the first run and now it was up to the Red Sox bats and with the top of the order up to bat. Duran once again hit a single to get on base and drive in the first run. Then the bases got crowded, setting up Trevor Story for the late heroics. With Hamilton pinch running for Devers, Story hit a single to drive him in and seal the victory!

Huge game for the Sox, who scored as many runs today as they did the first three games.
