2025 Valero Texas Open: Preview, Picks and Betting Odds

The PGA Tour is preparing for another event this weekend when the PGA Tour’s top players will descend on the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open golf tournament. With the Tour moving through their brief Texas swing, it is time to talk about who might be victorious this weekend and claim victory.

Some might think with The Masters just one week away this might be a down week for the tour, but this field will include the likes of Ludvig Aberg, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay.

Who will claim victory at the Valero Texas Open in 2025? Can Akshay Bhatia repeat as champion?

When it comes to making predictions/picks for golf, there is a method to my madness. The first step in the process is to take a look at the course, and past winners. Let’s see what the Texas Open has in store for fans this weekend:

Valero Texas Open

TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course), Par 72, 7,438 yards

Past Winners

2024: Akshay Bhatia

2023: Corey Conners

2022: J.J. Spaun

2021: Jordan Spieth

From this point, we have to take a look at who the odds-on favorites are to win the tournament. Here are the Top 5 favorites to win, and these odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:

Top 5 Odds

  • Ludvig Abert (+1200)
  • Tommy Fleetwood (+1400)
  • Corey Conners (+1600)
  • Patrick Cantlay (+1800)
  • Jordan Spieth (+2200)

My Picks

Every time I produce picks, I break them down in the a variety of picks. You don’t have to make these plays, but this is where I’m leaning in this week’s contest. My favorite picks are players who are less than +2000 odds, with the long shot picks greater than +2000 odds. For this week’s event, here are my Favorite and Long Shot picks:

Favorite: Corey Conners (+1600)

Long Shot: Gary Woodland (+5000)

The next phase of my picks are players who are slated to finish within a certain area on the leaderboard. The Top 5, 10, 20 picks also include ties, so if a player finished T-20 and you had them as a Top 20 pick, you win. Here are my plays, and the odds, for this week’s signature event:

Top 5

Ludvig Aberg (+275)

Patrick Cantlay (+360)

Top 10

Daniel Berger (+300)

Akshay Bhatia (+240)

Top 20

Jake Knapp (+240)

Gary Woodland (+200)

BONUS PICKS

Betting on golf is multi-faceted, and you can increase your odds on winning outside of the outright winner bet with different types of bonus bets. This would include the Double and Triple bets, but also different bets which can still get you plus odds. There are other specials plays, but we’ll save those for the big tournaments on the schedule. Here are my bonus plays for this week:

DOUBLE: Corey Conners or Akshay Bhatia to win (+1100)

TRIPLE: Corey Conners, Patrick Cantlay, or Akshay Bhatia to win (+700)
