Concession Prices. I am willing to bet that not a single person who reads this article has been to a sporting event, and said to themself; “WOW! These prices are SO AFFORDABLE!” With fans basically being “caged animals” at these games, CEOs and Owners alike just LOVE to jack up prices on the most important items they sell. It’s a “pay up, or starve” kind of situation, if you catch my drift?

It’s a sad state of affairs for sports fans across the world. It’s something that makes us HATE to crack open our wallets, whenever we decide to grab our 4th hot dog of the game. But according to the official Coastal Carolina Athletics X(Twitter) account…..it looks like the Chanticleers are changing the game for us loyal fans.

All games. All fans. Feast for free.

That’s right, sports fans; FREE! This upcoming football season, at Brooks Stadium in South Carolina, Coastal Carolina will be offering FREE CONCESSIONS to it’s loyal fans. They will be giving the teal-clad followers of their program the opportunity to fill their bellies all game long. No more pulling out the wallet, and fumbling money towards the awaiting concession stand employee. NO! It’s time to FEAST GOOD with the Chanticleers!

Now, for the record, there are some stipulations to this AMAZING deal. According to Coastal Carolina’s official website, fans will be able to “acquire four items per concession stand visit from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks.” It also says that “there is no limit to the number of in-game visits, but fans must scan each trip through the line with the soon-to-be-launched Coastal Carolina Athletics App.”

The only options that will (sadly) not be available for this deal will be “specialty items, food from outside vendors, and alcoholic beverages.” Sure, it would be nice to snag a free beer at the game. But if we’re being honest……having fans pay for them makes sense. You can’t give a stadium of college football fans free beer for 3+ hours. It would just be utter chaos!

Now, the question that arises is…..how will they be paying for all of this food? Will the school be jacking up the price of the tickets? Are the donors footing the bill for this shindig? Or is this just coming from the goodness of the school’s heart?

Whatever the case may be, I think it’s safe to say that I’m JEALOUS of every human who lives near the Coastal Carolina campus. I’m JEALOUS that these fans get to partake in the GREATEST deal in sports history, at one of the coolest stadiums in the country. Free food, AND a teal field? I mean WOW; what a time to be alive.

Someone take me to the Carolinas! But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
