The White Sox Grounds Crew Was A ‘Clown Show’ On Sunday
The Chicago White Sox are a dumpster fire of an organization. There, I said it; this once proud franchise that won the World Series back in 2005 has now become the laughing stock of Major League Baseball. They have become the punchline to everyone’s jokes, and a collection of humans that baseball fans would rather laugh at, than take seriously.
These are individuals who will probably be at the bottom of the American League for years to come. But this past Sunday, during a rather wet and windy afternoon tilt against the visiting Angels, we witnessed a whole new level of mediocrity from the ‘South Siders.’
What was it, you may ask? Well…..
People are making fun of the Sox for their tarp situation, but take into account it went from a drizzle to a monsoon with hail and extreme wind within about 2 minutes.pic.twitter.com/V3mP4VmAH5

The White Sox grounds crew couldn’t get the whole tarp on the field so they had to patch it up with a bunch of smaller tarps

Now, I get it……being a member of the grounds crew for a Major League Baseball team can be rather strenuous. Every now and again, you have to run out into the elements, and protect the sacred land that a bunch of multi-millionaires play a game on. It can get rather hectic, and it’s a job that not a lot of people are willing to do.
BUT, for a crew who’s most important job is to unroll a tarp during a rain delay…..you would THINK that they’d have it figured out, right? You would THINK that they would be prepared for the first rainfall of the season, and would be able to cover the field with the efficiency of a NASCAR pit crew?
It just makes sense! But NO; they weren’t ready for the moment. The lights were shining too bright on that fateful Sunday; the LORD’S DAY. These guys and gals were not prepared to get the job done, and instead……put together a plan-b that resembled a teen trying to super-glue a lamp that they broke while playing ball in the house. Sure, they might think it looks ok. But in the end…..the calamity that they pieced together just looked sad.
This team, and this franchise, are an absolute joke. I don’t care if they are 2-2 (as of writing this); their dismal display of baseball from last year has shown how far they’ve fallen. They’re the absolute worst, and it looks like their aura of “mediocrity” has officially contaminated other aspects of the organization.
Will anything change as the season goes on? We will have to wait and see. But let’s hope that this unit can shape up before something worse happens.
In the end though, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
