Three Of My Favorite Bets From The 2024 MLB Season

This past Friday, my friends and I over at “Just The BetSlips” published the fifth episode of our podcast, where we discussed our favorite MLB teams and players that we tailed/faded in gambling last year. We dove DEEP into the list of teams, dissecting all of the possible wagers that we made throughout the 2024 season.

It was a great time had by all, and something that ANY baseball fan/gambler can enjoy. But to celebrate Opening Weekend, and the conversations that we had, I thought it would be fun to relive the selections that I brought to the program. I thought it would be a great idea to dive deep into my picks, to see what all of YOU think of them.

1. The Colorado Rockies/Kyle Freeland:

As we all know…..the Colorado Rockies were a dumpster fire last season. The team with one of the most beautiful ballparks in the league was at the bottom of the well in 2024, and could have been even lower if it wasn’t for the god-awful Chicago White Sox. With a record of 61-101 (.377), they were a pitiful ballclub to watch on any given night. BUT……they were one of the easiest ballclubs to bet against.

As an avid gambler with “Just The BetSlips,” these rocky mountain bat swingers were a DREAM for my bankroll. It didn’t matter who they were playing, or when they were playing; I always made sure to have a few “schmeckles” on their opposition. This was especially true at the beginning of the season, when SP Kyle Freeland was struggling out of the gate. With a 38.57 ERA in March, and an 8.78 ERA in April……it was pretty easy to pick on the Evansville product when he was at his lowest.

2. Bobby Witt Jr. At Home:

If you were not on the Bobby Witt hype train last season, then you missed out. At home, this man was an absolute UNIT! He was a legit threat to destroy the hopes and dreams of opposing pitchers whenever they stepped into Kauffman Stadium. He protected his house, and showed the world why he is IN FACT the face of the Kansas City Royals.

Don’t believe me? Well in his 309 ABs at home last season, the Colleyville product was able to put up a FANTASTIC stat-line of; .382 BA, 14 HRs, and 57 RBIs. Not only that, he also smacked an astounding 31 doubles at home, compared to his 14 on the road. He was a total-bases machine, and when you paired him with a KC ML……..the return that you received was OTHERWORLDLY!

3. Baltimore Orioles Run Line:

The Baltimore Orioles are one of the most impressive squads in the league right now. With a young and talented lineup that consists of Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, and Jackson Holiday; this team is poised to become a dynasty for years to come. That was especially true last season, when it came to betting the run line on the birds.

It was FANTASTIC for the bankroll. This team ended up finishing with an 88-74 record against the spread, and brought gamblers a 53.7% return on investment. With a run differential of +87, and a run differential per game of 0.54; this team was easily one of my go-to squads to gamble on. But will they continue their success, or ADD ON to their success in 2025? We’ll have to wait and see.

But as always, with all of this being said……what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
